Wiesmann Cars

Wiesmann is an auto maker based in Germany, and the company was established in 1985 by brothers Friedhelm Wiesmann (who earned a bachelor of commerce degree) and Martin Wiesmann (who was a graduate engineer). All Wiesmann cars are built by hand in Dulmen, and the Wiesmann Cars' logo is a gecko; which was chosen as a representation of the cars' handling abilities.

The Wiesmann company originally built custom hardtops for convertible cars, and they still do so today. They built their first cars in 1993, and in 2006, they built the MF3 and the MF30 roadster models, along with the GT MF4 coupe. All Wiesmann models utilize various transmission and engine parts supplied by BMW.

Wiesmann Cars planned to start exports to the United States by the end of this year, but the most recent reports say that the manufacturer has no plans to sell cars in the United States in the near future. The change in plans is due to high exchange rates and the expense involved in testing and modifying the cars in order to get them street-legal in that country.
